Dating!

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

Now that I am single again, I find myself in new, as of late, uncharted waters. THE DATING POOL. Ok, I am not sure I am ready for this…of course, it is SO nice to have a companion, someone to go to the movies or theatre with, have a nice dinner with, go to sporting events, museums, travel, et al (ok, do I have to explain et al?). I truly believe we all have a soul mate out there. Maybe we have met this person and passed them up and are destined to connect again, maybe we haven’t met this person yet OR maybe this person will be an even longer time in turning up because we aren’t actually available, yet.

If you aren’t really psychologically or emotionally ready, that is the type of people you will meet. If you are confident, as settled as possible and comfortable with yourself, hopefully THAT is the type of person you will attract.

But I want to know what it says about me when a man recently said to me, ” I like you, you’re weird, but not in a bad way.” Or what it says about him?

In a recent email from a friend in Germany, who is also single, I said ” We aren’t as complicated as men make us out to be. We just want true love, respect, someone who is stable and emotionally available, honest and genuine. Throw in some humor and intelligence and we’re all yours!  That is, long as we are able to deliver the same. But so many of us are so damaged by past relationships we keep projecting our past into our future and that will sink the dating ship faster than you can say ‘Torpedo ahead!’.

So relax, take it one day at a time, give it space and the ability to happen.  You may be amazed at who you meet.

Until next time…have a happy and a healthy day!

Aspire higher! Don’t take life for granted. Goal setting is the very basis of any success. Success is the progressive realization of a worthy goal. Without a goal there can be no success. Success is not a destination but a journey.

The Plethora of Internet Marketing Advice

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

With the advent of Twitter and the ability to market anything and everything online these days when you are growing your business, whether it be online or in the general marketplace, how do you separate the wheat from the chaff? By that I mean, I get emails everyday telling me I should join this marketing group or buy that marketing tool and subscribe to this automated information site or pay this, that or the other amount of money to learn to do what someone else does. Or learned to do, or taught themselves how to do, and they don’t want you to have to spend all that time doing the research. They have done it for you and now they want to sell that information to you. And they always stress they made money, LOTS OF MONEY doing it. So they say. If I bought into every “convincing” marketing system that passed across my screen, I’d be broke. When someone sends me their “guaranteed” system for getting me thousands of followers on Twitter or thousands of hits on my website or my blog, I always question the results. My motto is: if is sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Who really is making those 6 figure incomes? The guy that sent you the marketing pitch? Maybe, or maybe the guy who started the marketing “system” in the first place…who is a hundred levels away from the person that is trying to introduce the marketing system to you. Usually there are little, tiny disclaimers at the very bottom of the very long explanation of how this system works. The typical “results aren’t typical” disclaimer. You are promised ‘free insider advice’ if you sign up for my email newsletter. But what are these folks selling, really? Information? My fool-proof marketing system that enables you to work an hour a day and then spend the rest of your time in Kaua’i living off the millions you have made selling others this “insider” information? You can get that in a lot of places without paying a dime. Sure, I’d like to have some sort of system where I can make scads of money online selling fitness products or accessories or supplements and only have to walk into a gym when I am training myself. Sure, I’d love my dream condo in my dream destination of Kaua’i, but honestly with thousands of people trying to take a short cut to success who is going to really benefit? Pay $97 for my “secrets” but when you press cancel another screen pops up and says “Ok just for you, we will cut the price to $37 today and today only” and when you press cancel another screen pops up and says “If you act RIGHT NOW, you can have my system for $7!” Do you see the pattern here? Who’s zooming who? I think if you have a good idea and you put in the time and effort and you make it compelling and interesting and funny and worthwhile and give some stuff away and back it all up with support, you will develop that market. I mean look at blogs like Perez Hilton. A few years ago no one knew who he was. But he started this catty, gossipy Hollywood “insider” blog, died his hair pink, wore funky clothes and VOILA instant recognition. He found his niche and capitalized on it. Sure there are hundreds of gossip blogs out there but Perez markets to the right crowd, says the right things that resonate with certain people and I bet his trips to the bank are a lot happier these days. SO my advice is be good at what you do, whatever that is, put in the work, use technology, find a niche, offer things that few offer, be honest, know your stuff, and YOU TOO, will be the cream that rises to the top.

Until next time…have a happy and healthy day!

The Internet can be truly amazing!

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

I was on Facebook checking out what the dear near and far were up to and my IM popped up! It was a music acquaintance IMing me from SWEDEN with fitness questions. And I answered them…from the U.S! Just a marvel, in my book. That is why I so truly believe in the E-Training. Fitness training online, in the comfort of your home, your hotel room, your friends’ homes, wherever! We can work together and not even be in the same hemisphere! With the ability of video, pictures, email, IM, texting it is like I am in the room with you. You can workout whenever you want and you don’t even need to carry a DVD with you. You don’t even need any equipment at all. Now mind you, I always have an exertube and an exerband with me. They take up virtually no room in my suitcase and weigh ounces so I can still buy that pair of shoes I saw in Italy without being over my weight limit. AND stay in shape so my calves look rockin’ in those new Manolos! E-Training is the way of the future so let’s ride it! Until next time…have a happy and healthy day!
